More about our RAINBOW BEACH HIKE
We start at Adventure Tribe home base or we can pick you up from the Sunshine Coast Airport or Noosa CBD. From here we spend a couple of hours transporting everyone to the start point of the hike at beautiful Rainbow Beach.
Carrying a day pack with your lunch, water, raincoat and anything else that you might need for the day, you’ll hike through rain forest, past lakes and arrive at a beach side paradise where our team will have set up camp and be preparing dinner. In this beautiful seaside wonderland you’ll eat, sleep and play for almost 24 hours before heading back to civilisation.
If you want an easy overnight hike with experienced guides or if you're considering going alone one day, this trip is for you!
Itinerary
Day 1 – Home Base to Freshwater Camp Ground
Meet
6.00am
Adventure Tribe Home Base, 205 McCords Rd, Yandina Creek, Qld. Set among 23 acres of subtropical rainforest, emersed in a massive range of native bird calls, our Home Base sets the tone for the rest of your trip.
6.45am
Whilst at Home Base we will make sure that everyone has what they need, go through some introductions and then we’ll start the drive to our hike start point at Bymien picnic area, Rainbow Beach
8.45am
Upon arrival at the Bymien Picnic area, we will have a quick bite to eat and then get started on the 10km walk.
This walk takes us through an incredible Subtropical Rainforest that is hidden from most visitors. We are now walking through the Great Sandy National Park, the same National Park as K’gari (Fraser Island).
Along the way we pass Poona Lake, a freshwater perched lake full of elusive wildlife.
12.30pm
As the stomach starts to indicate its ready for a good feed, we walk into Freshwater Camp Ground where the team will have already arrived and prepared lunch. Our camp is located approximately 300m behind the coastal sand dunes so it is protected from the winds but still a little sandy with a lot of coastal eucalypt tree canopy.
Once at camp you’re free to eat, grab your gear, check out your giant swag, unpack and get comfy or head down to the beach where you can join our team who will likely be throwing a frisbee, fishing or some other fun activity.
Unwind and relax!!
Dinner
After a fun filled day of hiking through the rainforest and frolicking on the beach, it’s time for dinner which our team will have diligently prepared for you.
Amenities
This campsite is rare because it has flushing toilets and HOT showers! (showers cost a $2 coin so don’t forget to bring some with you).
These amenities are shared amenities with other campers.
Day 2 – Freshwater Campground to Home Base
Wake up to the sounds of the ocean!...and breakfast being prepared lol
We will have a relatively early start (varies depending on the season and weather). Roll out or jump out of your swag after a surprisingly comfy night’s sleep in your massive swag!
Help yourself to breakfast, go for a morning stroll on the beach if you like and then we will start our return hike through the rainforest back to Bymien Picnic area.
1.00pm
We will enjoy a bite to eat before we jump back on the bus for our return drive to Adventure Tribe Home Base.
3.00pm
Feel the magic of being able to return from an overnight camping trip and not having to worry about packing away the gear or washing everything up…because we have that covered!
You can focus on reflecting on how amazing your trip was, or you can even consider extending your stay in the local area (Peregian Beach is only 10 minutes away and Noosa is 25 minutes away)
